GAROWE:  Security forces of Somalia’s Puntland State have stepped up measures to tighten the security in the main cities ahead of Eidul Fitr celebrations that will start on Sunday to mark the end of the Ramadan Month.

The region’s cabinet meeting, chaired by President Abdiwali Mohamed Ali Gaas on Thursday authorized fresh operations by the state security apparatus to tackle possible terror attack during the Eid Prayers in the first day of the Eidul Fitr and the following days.
“We urge the public to refrain from enemy propaganda to keep the region safe.” a statement from Puntland Cabinet of the Ministers said.
“Puntlanders should collaborate closely with the local officials and report any suspicious individuals to prevent menace caused by the enemy.” the state added.
Puntland security forces have been on alert since Al-Shabab carried a deadly attack on a key military base in Af Urur village in June 8th, which left more than 50 soldiers and civilians killed.
“We are increasing the number of security patrol so that those hiding inside Puntland cannot dare terrorism act against Puntland and its people,” said President Gaas.
The militant group ISIS is also posing threats to this northeastern region of Somalia.
